Camera Setup

Use portrait mode videos only.

Alignment:

Tracking works best when the camera is looking directly down the length of the bar. This gives the Bar Path a circular plate to track instead of one that appears non-circular.

Distance:

For reasons similar to camera alignment, position the camera at a medium distance away from the tracked plate. If the camera is too close, the plate will distort as is moves through its range of motion in the video.

Height:

Position the camera around the midpoint of the range of motion. That means the camera should be above the bottom position of the lift, but below the starting position. This will minimize plate distortion throughout the video.

Tip: Use a tripod. If you don’t have one, get creative and mount the camera on something so that it does not move at all while recording.

Tip: A plain background works best if you can get that to happen.
